Fundraiser Friday

(The second Friday of each month is my personal "Fundraiser Friday".  I encourage you to select one day a month for your own "Fundraiser Friday" - or Monday or Tuesday or whatever day you please.  You can read more about it here. )

This is a shout-out to all my readers who live in this area of Vancouver Island.  There is a fundraiser garage sale tomorrow, Saturday July 9th, in Cobble Hill, with all proceeds going to Hearts on Noses Mini Pig Sanctuary - the only sanctuary for little piggies in western Canada.  Janice does an awesome job with these exceptionally smart, cute, loving and so often abused or abandoned animals.  Unfortunately, even those who love animals often steer all their donations and resources (including volunteer physical help) to the more popular dog and cat rescues, and it is an ongoing challenge for the piggy sanctuary to even meet basic monthly expenses let alone the high cost of veterinary care.  You can see their website here or read their more current blog here.

So, if you live in the area and want some great bargains on clean, quality treasures from dog supplies to fine china, here's the scoop:

Hearts on Noses Garage Sale Fundraiser
Where:  1182 Rolmar Cres., Cobble Hill
When:  Saturday July 9, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

A huge thanks to Jenn W and her mom for putting on this sale and donating all proceeds to the sanctuary!

I'll be there lending a hand, and will have an informational booth set up with lots of piggy pics, so be sure to stop by and say "hi!" even if you think you don't need anything (though I'm betting you'll find something that you just can't live without).

Live too far away?  If you are on the lower mainland, it's a lovely drive out to Mission to lend a hand at the sanctuary for a day - just contact Janice at heartsonnoses (at) shaw dot ca. Too far away to help?  You can make a donation via paypal (and you'll get a tax receipt), or sponsor a piggy, or spread the word via your facebook page so others will help.  After all, these little guys deserve a great life too:

If you weren't a reader of this blog when I was fostering Scotch, Soda and the ten little pigs, here's just a few of my favourite piggy posts you may enjoy (just a 'few'- there are 149 posts about the piggies on this blog, if you have a lot of time on your hands!).

(For those of you who 'follow' this blog, I apologize for the triple notification today - I had the time of the sale wrong, and also had to correct a couple of links. Each time I edit, you get a new notificaiton).

i was so excited to see a picture of a pig on my blogroll! i LOVE your piggy stories. as i remember, when i first found your blog, you were writing piggy stories and i was amazed at how huge they were. i've read quite a few of your old stories (with and without pigs). wonderful stuff :) when i find some time, i'll have to click on those links.

love that picture of the muddy pig with a sunny snout. actually, i was oohing and aaahing through all the pics! they're so sweet (not at all like birds). it's hard to believe anyone would dump such cuties.

i hope your event goes well. have a great weekend. how's sadie doing? xox
